In 2014, I was hired as a boxing instructor at Title Boxing Club in Pasadena.

My classes were some of the most intense classes in the city. I took pride in taking people to their limits. For 2 years I created long combinations that challenge my class members mentally and physically.

Here are some of my favorite combinations that were thrown together to get my members in shape.

10 Punch Boxing Combo

This a quick 10 Punch Boxing Combination. The combination is broken down into 4 punch and 6 punch combo then combined to make a 10 punch combination.

Jab/Jab
Cross/Uppercut

(6 Punch Combo)
Jab/Cross/Cross/Cross
Lead Hook/Rear Hook

This was a 20 punch combination broken down for 6:30am boxing class at Title Boxing Club Pasadena.

Here's the entire sequence;
• Jab/Cross

• 3 Lead Hooks/Cross
• Lead Uppercut/ Rear Uppercut
• Superman Punch

This is a 21 punch boxing combination broken down piece by piece with mitt work drills thrown in.

Combo Breakdown:

Push the bag out and catch it in a guard.

This is the full breakdown of a 25 punch combination used in my 6:30am boxing class.
25 Punch Boxing Combo
• Jab
• Cross 3x
Push your bag out, and catch it with your forearms.
• Cross 3x
Reset your hands
• Jab/Cross Combo 2x
Step across the bag with your lead foot and pivot to your stance.
• Lead Hook/Rear Hook Combo 2x
Step back to your original position.
• Lead Uppercut/Rear Uppercut Combo 2x
• Weave/Lead Hook
• Weave/Rear Hook
• Weave/Lead Hook
• Weave/Rear Hook
• Cross 2x
• Power Hook (either hand)

 

Plank Punches are exercises used to develop power and strength as well as develop your core strength. The plank punch combination gives you the best of both worlds (boxing and strength training).

As a boxing instructor I took my time to study the greats such as Muhammed Ali, Mike Tyson and Flyod Mayweather. I study their drills and incorporated into my personal training and the training I used with my students.

 Train like the greats

Working the focus mitts is one of my favorite drills to use with my clients to help them develop their speed and timing. This drill keeps me mentally sharp because I get to design combos and see them put into action from the defensive side of boxing.
FSW Mitt Work
The key to this drill is to incorporate defense and offense. Throw punches at your student to teach them timing, and add a punch to the ribs to teach them how to block.

Drill:
• Double Jab
• Cross
• Weave under left punch
• Weave under right punch
• Lead Hook/ Rear Hook/ Lead Hook Combo
• Cross
• Block to the body
• Cross
Repeat the drill.



When you get more advanced students you can do more advanced drills.

Boxing training has always been my outlet and on my free time I would choreograph routines om the bag to use in my classes. Since I taught cardio boxing the music is what led the workout, and help my students with their rhythm and timing. I never got a chance to compete professionally, but it is still a goal of mines. I'm older now, but better late then never.
