The Juneteenth Workout: FSW #9
The Juneteenth Workout: This workout challenge was created to celebrate Juneteenth. Juneteenth is a holiday celebrated on the 19th of June to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved black people in the United States.
The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date, in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, slaves were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation.
As a black man who dedicated his life to fitness, the best way l could see to honor my ancestors was through my craft.
The workout consists of 5 exercises for 16 reps for five rounds totaling 400 reps.
The five exercises & rounds represent the five fingers of the fist.
The 16 reps symbolize the age that a black man becomes a threat to society.
The 400 reps symbolize the 400 years of oppression that my people had to endure and are still fighting to this day.
